Parable of the Hidden Treasure

Mt 13:44

Mt 13:44

44The kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hidden in the field; which a man found, and hid; and in his joy he goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

What does this parable reveal about the Kingdom of God?

This parable begins by explaining that the Kingdom of Heaven is similar to hidden treasure, that is, it is explaining that the Kingdom is not always apparent, visible to everyone, and that people can find it. The parable also shows the behavior of those who meet him and the value this has for this person.

The treasure is hidden in a field, not in a forest or in a desert, that is, despite being hidden it can be found with a certain effort, but not with extreme difficulty.

When someone finds it but still does not have access, she strives to gain access legally and not illegally, that is, the treasure was reburied so that an attitude could happen to gain access..

The Kingdom is so wonderful that this person is overflowing with joy, that is, the person is above abundance (with great joy), there is happiness left over so that it spreads to other people.

Soon after, she sells everything she has, that is, the value of the Kingdom is priceless, but to gain access we have to put everything we have, not only financially, but also overflowing all the time. Interesting that if the person is super rich or with less resources, it doesn't matter, the value is in putting everything you have.

And the sale represents exactly that, no longer having our heart turned to material things and goods, but applying everything (purchase) to the disposition of the Kingdom. It doesn't mean that we won't have material goods, it just means that these goods should be used as resources for the Kingdom, and if some goods don't make sense anymore, we should get rid of them and buy another one that makes sense.
