The Parable of the Mustard Seed

Mt 13:31-32

Mt 13: 31-32

31Another parable set he before them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like unto a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: 32which indeed is less than all seeds; but when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the heaven come and lodge in the branches thereof.

What does this parable reveal about the Kingdom of God?

The Kingdom of Heaven begins very small, in anyone's life. But for it to start, action is needed, something needs to be done. Nothing will happen if you don't plant it in your field, plant it in your life. By doing this, the seed (idea) will die, and will cease to be an imagination, to germinate and grow, and become a fact in your life.

Every plant goes through several steps to reach its adult stage, first it is buried in the ground, dying for the process of rooting and germinating to begin. The first leaves appear, we water it, and this water that arrives gives more to this little plant that grows until it becomes a big tree.

As the tree gets bigger, it serves everything around it, in many ways: it nourishes the soil with the leaves that fall, animals arrive and snuggle in its shade, birds build their nests and so, a seed that was tiny becomes a huge tree, producing many fruits and impacting everyone around it.

The Kingdom of God starts small in the life of each person, it has several stages to grow, and its growth depends on the effort of each one to feed it with the new water of the Holy Spirit of God daily. As the first ramifications emerge, the first results come and the impact on the lives of other people, who snuggle up to seek the energy generated by those who belong to the Kingdom.

A person who is from the Kingdom brings abundance and shelter to the life of many people, his fruits are food to be distributed, and his example is inspiration for those around him; bringing more and more people to know the lifestyle preached by Jesus Christ.
